Coach Mike Del Buono
Mike@novavipers.com
Coach Mike graduated from Robinson High School in 2009 where he was a three-year Varsity Starter. Coach Mike was a true two-way player; as the starting 3b he led the team in hitting his final two years while still leading the team in innings pitched and ERA. He was a two-time All-District selection as well as an All-Region performer. While in High School Coach Mike played his travel ball for the Richmond Braves National team and competed in and won many tournaments from Florida to Arizona. In 2009, during his senior year of high school Coach Mike was named an Under Armour Pre-Season All-American. Coach Mike then continued his playing career at Lynchburg College where he remained a two-way player. His freshman year, he was named the National Pitcher of the Week after throwing a one hitter in his first collegiate start. During his sophomore year he was able to lead the team in batting average as well as triples and HBP's. During his Final season at LC he was the clean-up hitter on the team that set a school record in Wins, and at one point lead all divisions in college baseball in Runs Scored, RBI, Batting average and Hits. During this historic season they were also able to bring home the first conference Championship in over 20 years! After his playing years at Lynchburg College Coach Mike moved back to the area and started getting into baseball as a profession by doing private lessons at DST (Diamond Sports Training) while also being a Varsity Assistant at Centreville High school. While doing this he also was the head coach for one of the top MVP Terps team for multiple seasons. After a couple extremely successful seasons, the parents came to Coach Mike and said while they loved him as a coach they did not enjoy the big organization feel. This is what prompted Coach Mike to start his team the Nova Vipers! The Vipers were founded with one idea in mind, provide the level of value expected for the amount of money that is put in. Because of this simple theory the Vipers have now become a Northern Va powerhouse. Not to mention that Coach Mike is a full time Coach/ Private Instructor, which enables him to push his players all day everyday!
